We all see the generational differences of students and finding the right blend of teaching style can be challenging. Auditory learning by far, does not reach the student yet many continue to rely on the lecture format. Blending colorful power points, lecture, and group activities work the best for me.
I like this method also, especially in classes that have a lot of hands on applications.
I agree with you. Hands on in the lab keeps everybody interested. They get to see it, hear about it, and then do it. All great learning tools.
Terry,
those real life experiences are a great way to help solidify concepts & keep their interest.

David,
and having some really good debrief questions to go along with the learning activity can be very helpful too.

I try to stimulate the minds of my students by relating skill learning difficulties to other everyday life experiences.
visual aides are awsome. They add relevance to what they are doing. Its most helpful when they see it before they perform the task
Class activities are important. But, if there's no schedule or structure to the class then its very easy for students to fall behind.
Interaction with the students and using simulations helps keep them more Interested and involved on what's going on
