Mixing it up
Students sometimes do not like to be surprised with a variety of lesson plans. Mixing it up can help them adapt to change more readily. This will enhance their abilities in the workplace.
I totally agree. Knowing how to deal with change is important, it is a constant, students need to get used to it. I also believe that mixing it up creates diversity, stimulation, and a challenge. If an instructor lectors everyday and then assigns the questions at the end of the chapter. You know as well as I do,by week three of the course, students are going to appear to be listening to the lecture, and at the same time completing the questions at the end of the chapter. Mix it up, to prevent this from happening.
I agree. This strategy will assist students in preparing to adapt to the ever changing environment of the world. It teaches them flexibility and also makes them possibly use different learning strategies to successfully understand the different types of lesson plans. This technique keeps the students stimulated and makes and enjoyable learning environment
I teach in the surgical technology program and working in surgery you will never know your day to day schedule. Mixing it up helps prepare my students for the workforce.
I feel that "mixing it up" allows the students to come to the same conclusion or reach the learning objectives by approaching it from different directions. Sort of like finding their way home, no matter where they have been. Does that make sense?
This is so true. They certainly cannot count on each day being the same out in the workplace. Being able to find your way home and knowing alternate routes and ways of getting where you need to be sums it up perfectly.
