accelerated learning

In accelerated learning the ability to learn retrieve information can become convoluted. I feel the instructors ability to tie key points of the curriculum to a life experience helps with recall. This helps the student to mentally index information to recall.

Arthur,
yes, excellent point. I like to say that the experiences are pegs on which we can hang the concepts.

I will show the student the procedure, then assist the student doing the procedure, then let the student do the procedure by himself, then provide feedback as to how the student did in the procedure. The final step is to tie all of this information about that procedure into a real life experience from my career. The student seems to retain the method of that procedure better that way.

Michael,
this is a great way to help our students learn the techniques.

I agree, life experience or job experience into a topic does play important role in the learning process.

that is an excellent way to help students in lab practical classee, i also implement learning process in most of my classes.

I absolutely agree. My students tell me they remember key points when I tie in real life experiences. I teach medical courses and have worked in the health care field over 20 yrs. I try to use my experiences to help them understand specific concepts.

After the students do an oniine exercise that tells them their inner strengths, I have them share in small groups, ways they can use these strengths in their jobs.

Ruth,
when they can see how this really used & how those situations play out it's incredibly helpful.
