making thoe room your area to lecture in

it is always a good iead to make the whole room the area to lecture in and it gives you a way of seeing how the students are reacting to what is being said as well as seeing what they are doing. I also give them a short break like tell a joke or asking them what they think about the topic.

I to move around the room allot. I have found this to be beneficial by ensuring the students are involved as I make eye contact with and engage all students in the lesson.

Bravo Michael!

Keeping students engaged and envolved ensures that learning will occur.

Keep up the good work!

I believe this is a good way to handling lecturing also it allows you to watch them and make sure they are on task and not playing on an Ipod.

Agreed. I find that the simple movement around the room will help me keep my students engaged in the lesson. Making eye contact with everyone at least once helps aswell.

i agree,i am a big fan of the square table setting too.it puts you in front of everyone and gives you room to move and stay in front of them, plus you can see what they are all doing.

I like to begin by sitting on the front table/desk. It seems to connect me with the students. I also wander around the room - especially when students are working on computers. Being in the back of a room can be a great time to deliver a few points. Sometimes I think it helps students take notes when they can simply focus on any visual aids at the front of class.
