Improving Your Communication Skills
We, as educators should know the importance of communicating in the classroom; whether it is during a lecture, explaination, or general conversation to one student or to the entire class. Our students are always paying attention to us; therefore, we should always be clear and concise when communicating with the students.
The area of communication is something I continue to struggle with. Do I talk to fast, to slow -- did I cover all the content, etc.
But most of all, through my experience, the best piece to communication is listening. Taking that 3-5 second pause after a student made a question to process a response and then truly respond with an answer that shows the student I listened to them.
