ORGANIZING WORK GROUPS

When work groups are put in place it is a good way to build confidance for the students. By working within groups they begin to see how everyone can contribute to each others success.

When students work in groups it can give you a couple of perspectives how they interact with others and their contribution to the class. I agree that you should place them in groups thinking in regards to personalities and other variables which can have a positive or negative effect. Most students seem to be able to work well in groups however, you have some that don't. Working in groups can help buld their confidance by allowing them to display their own individuality.

Hi Sharon!

When I have students who don't do well in a group, I try not to have to change them unless they become too disruptive. I like for students to work our group interactions just as they would have to do in the real world. But I don't allow a student to disrupt the group to the point that no learning occurs.

Good job!

The team approach can be very effective and offers a sense of inclusion not only to the learning process but as a member of the class. It helps to reduce the feeling of isolation that many adult learners feel when going back to school.
