yes many students are much more comfortable opening up & sharing in the smaller groups rather than the larger classes.

I would add that a diverse group would be more effective as the diversity can give the participants greater insight on the plight of others than a monolithic group.

absolutely true! If you have the opportunity, diverse groups really are the best route.
