Groups

Groups are such a great way to get students involved and yet take the pressure off they may feel during a class discussion. However, it is definitely something that must be monitored to make sure that all students are participating not just a few. Encouraging them to switch roles is a great way to help with effective participation.

Kimberly,
excellent comment & right on. These groups can be a great tool but you are very right when you say that we have to monitor them & help them along.

The peer group discussions allow the instructors to see how the lecture was interpreted and gives a chance to change or adjust the lecture if there are more than a few groups who misunderstood the information given.
