Does our body language speak louder than our verbal language?
I agree too much diversity in a class can be challenging. Older students may feel younger students know more since they just finished school. However, by having them share experiences through ice-breakers or group projects, they can learn to respect one another and come to the conclusion that they are all there to learn.
Our body language must match what we are saying. Otherwise, the overall effectiveness of what is being taught is diminished.
I think that body language has a large effect on the way we are viewed by our students. Even though their may be cultural of language differences, if an instructor is not happy at their job, it can be seen in their facial expressions and the way they carry themselves. It's important to do things like make eye contact, smile, and maintain a good posture to keep a strong non-verbal example.
