Knowing the needs

We all have students with different needs. Whether those needs are age related, esteem issue or a disability of some sort. As instructors we need to take the time to identify for each student what those are. Our goal is to an effective instuctor but without knowing the student base in your classroom we will be leaving students behind in the learning experience. Each group of students will be comprised of diversity it is our jobs to apply who they are to what they can achieve and be successful individuals.

In my class every student have a different need , and I take the challenge of understand every one, best sample, RESUMES

At the beginning of every course I have the students introduce themselves to me and their fellow classmates so that I can begin to understand some characteristics about them. I find out things like where they are from, if they have any prior experience in their course of study, what are their goals after graduation, and I find that it helps throughout the course to keep them on track.

I do the same thing - it develops a great rapport with students (and with students amongst one another). I also have them fill out little sheets about their goals for the course, which is helpful to both of us as well.

I also have my students give a quick introduction to of themselves, why they are here and what they hope to achive. This gives me a better idea what their expectations of the class are.
