Providing security to students ranks very high on my prioritization list regarding effective techniques to ensure student success.

Security has another view point in some cultures. A breach in a student's security can appear as an affront to them personally - RESPECT - This can become a major problem if not handled properly.

I agree the student needs to feel secure in the learning environment. The students come from many different backgrounds and educational levels, so security for them could make or break their learning experience.

Betty, security can imply many different thought processes for different individuals. For some it is a matter of feeling safe to get to and from school while for others it is more a matter of feeling their opinions count and they can bring forward any question in the classroom without feeling ridiculed.

As stated in the lesson, I also believe that you can enhance the students' sense of security by summerizing the content of the lesson toward the end of the class. I like to provide students with a set of review questions and have the students answer them out loud. I agree that not all students are comfortable answering questions but by doing it informally and also providing them with the questions ahead of time so they can take notes during the class makes them feel more secure about asnwering the review questions later.
