What I have learned about motivating others is that the largest unmet need and driver of motivation at work is purpose. This was an ahha moment. I wrote it down and plan on using this as an opening workshop for our students. Purpose is key!
i have learned to motivate students by showing them how rewardinding it can be at the end of the course
I learned about motivating others and the importance of creating 'flow' for both myself and my students. Make work purposeful. Allow autonomy and set clear goals to achieve.
Providing a well understood and defined purpose will allow it members to accomplish the task at hand. Provide the freedom and responsibility to allow them to tackle the problem and provide guidance as required. As a leader, provide a good example of a motivated leader with the desire of making the organization better. Take care of the organization members. Committment, trust, honesty, good communication, knowing your job, and respect will allow the unit members to follow you and accomplish the task.
When you know you have a motivated team?..... When they follow you in spite of harm, difficulty or the unknown to accomplish the mission!
What works is a combination of intrinsic and extrinsic. I see that in our student labs. They enjoy the grade, but also doing something well
I intend to express to students why it is important to learn certain aspects about mechanical engineering and by applying your interest in a subject you might find that self-motivating interest to learn more and master the task.
I have learn to motivate my students in making them aware of the finial reward which comes with their students, giving them the autonomy in some of their assignment
I will use intrisic motiviarion by utilizing as many personal healthcare stories to help keep them motivated. I hope this will show them how motivated I am to be in healthcare and help inspire them to want to learn as much as they can.
How critically important feedback is to adult learners and how critical it is to return exams, quizzes, tests as soon as possible and the affect a delay in feedback can negatively impact the adult learner.
I've learned that you have to share your motivation with others rather than manage them. If you foster motivation and goals they will be more effective
Learning about how to motivate our students is important, finding out if they intrinsic and extrinsically motivated. We can use this information to help our student to reach their goals.
I think the best thing is to find what motivates the studnets in this generation and go on from there.
The best portion thus far was to break down the intrinsic motivators and how I can reinforce them with my students. There is a level of education that is important to use a perfect meld of both intrinsic and extrinsic for the success of the students, staff, and academic faculty.
Intrinsic motivation leads personal satisifaction while extrinsic movtiavtion avoids pain.
what I have learned is that my way of motivating students was incorrect. I know understand to motivate it must be untrinsic and extrinsic.
I ROCK !
I knew this already of course... but this course helped me see how important it is that I never forget it!
