White boards

I have found that the white board works best for my students. Most of the time when I send messages to my classes by email will just not read it

Clifton, Do what works for your students. If it's the white board, go with that. Their needs and behaviors will likely evolve as technology evolves, so be prepared to change your preferred method in the future.

White boards are great for information that needs to be at hand all the time

Samuel, Indeed true. Sometimes we have to choose to organize our thoughts in places that are public and that show the information persistently. Always remember to write "Do not erase" on your boards when sharing classroom and office space with others!

We use the white board on a daily basis, with instructors name, date, course number, reading assignments, special pages from their course book.I found this helps for class preperation, and student retention. We review any reading assignments the next day.

I use my white board to let the students know what we will be doing in class for the day and also to give them reading assignments for what we will be doing the next day

John, Sounds like a great way to set expectations and provide an organized road map of activities. This shows your students that you are on top of things but also helps to structure their learning.

i am an avid user of white boards in my classroom, I am able to place objectives or points on the board and then see where the discussions lead and also provide real world application, it also helps with the students ability to take notes during the discussion and then they can reflect at home when studying, and alot of the points end up sticking rather then when there is no involvement from the white board
