priortization is important but you do have to be flexible it is just a outline

I believe in making a list of things to do in the morning or the night before so I am ready to tackle the list in the morning, I list them from most important to least. I then highlight the topic once it has been achieved. It helps me stay on course, whatever is leftover is top priority the next day, it works for me!

I tend to accomplish these tasks as soon as practicable. This allows me to focus on long-term projects that interest me more than my immediate (routine)responsibilities.
I typically use prioritization methods outlined in the module.

I do a mental "to do list". Generally I try to finish a couple easy task first which gives me confidence to take the harder ones. Whenever I am giving a quiz my priority is to correct the students paper the same day and give them their grades. I feel that all work should be done correctly the first time as much as possible.

Noel, Sounds like you have a healthy approach to prioritization. This is great to hear. It's really important to make sure that we attend to items that require our immediate attention. So identifying them early and upfront is the key.

Nancy, A lot of instructors feel the exact same way. Sometimes it's just easier to knock a few easy tasks out of our queues before moving on to the hard ones. Easy tasks are such great confidence builders and can give us momentum that helps us tackle the more complicated tasks.

Anna-Maria, So true. The topic of time and stress management really applies to anyone in a college, including students too. Don't be afraid to share what you learn to help those around you. When they are less stressed, you will be too!

Sometimes it is hard to get started working on the task that needs to get done and if you don't feel like working on it or it is hard to get started and you find all kinds of excuses not to start. By starting with the easy and short task first and continue to work throught help you tackel the harder task and before you know it you have completed both easy and hardest task.

By prioritizing your task helps to keep stress down, in that you work on what need to be taken care of right away. while other task maybe inportant but not so important that it cannot wait an hour later or a day later of even a month later. You must learn to juggle your schedule, your time and your work to stay one step ahead of not being pile with so many deadlines to meet or task that must be taken care of at the same time.
That is the reason we use time management, stress management, & prioriting in our daily lives not just a classroom environment.

Prior to this module I already prioritized my tasks by importance and did the most urgent tasks first. However, this module has taught me the importance of making lists
From this module I have learned that the first step is write down a "to do" list. Write down the responsibilities that relate to my job as a career school instructor, my family and personal life,.... etc.
The second step is to find ways to break larger tasks into a number of small tasks. This will make the smaller tasks more manageable to accomplish, and much easier to start and finish.

I usually complete a to do list daily either written or mentally, depending on the length of the list. Once I have it completed I work on it in order of how I've listed it. The plan is to complete each task accordingly. Items that require immediate attention are generally complete before other items.

Absolutely...... Ive actually created a "Things to Do" form to keep me on track.

Fortunately for me, I've always been one to Prioritize. This subject matter is very esential to all professionals, not only instructor but administration. When one prioritize, work flow better and is definitely accomplished.

Deborah, When things get too stressful and you can only focus on so much, remember to take some time for you. When you are the strongest, you can be stronger for those who need you and more effective at helping everyone.

Kathy, Yes, this is indeed true. We open up our schedules with task prioritization because we focus on the most important tasks. We know what's important for the near term and long term with this approach.

Peggy, The process of reevaluation is an important one. It's not enough just to make a list. We've got to consider new tasks that come in, compare them to the ones we have on our plates and balance them all. Sometimes, priorities change quickly so it's important to reevaluate and quickly respond.

I use to be one of those people that had to get everything done right away. When I started teaching the Going to College course and talked about procrastination I realized that I was the opposite and had been all my life.
Since I realize it and try to put back but I must admit it is hard.
I also have always used a things to do list. It keeps me organized and I know exactly what I need to do for a day.

In the work environment there is so much pressure to be the best; I feel a need to accomplish important tasks immediately. The idea that it takes the pressure off my supervisor to have things accomplished by me, so she will not have to hear negative feedback from other staff members pushes me to be this way.
My health has recently suffered from this stress related behavior. My first priority has recently changed to deal with stress first. I have had to learn to step back and truly evaluate the urgency in each case. This is especially helpful when I evaluate my duties related to my children and at work.

i believe that the idea of task prioriitizing frees up time and allows you to accomplish more and be successful and les stressed

I am organized and write down task to do that are important and get those finished first. If it is something that doesn't get done I re-evaluate to figure out why it hasn't been done, maybe it isn't as important or urgent.
