Time is of Essence

Short answer questions are just as good as essay questions in most courses. What i have found in and agree that there can be a lot of time wasted not only putting together essay questions, but also grading them. The other thing is that if an instructor is goingto ask students to underline their main words in their esay answers, then, it is more effective to create a short answer test.

I have found that essay tests can be intimidating and all around can be a big time wasting venture.

I agree with you about the short answer questions. I think that short answer questions can be used as critical thinking when worded to be that way.

I also agree. I love short answers and feel as though they are less intimidating for students. Sometimes students feel overwhelmed by essays and are not able to effectively express their thoughts to answer the question. Short answers are straight to the point and determine whether or not the student knows the answer is a brief explanation.
