Time Management

Grading definitely takes up most of my time. I think it's critical to make sure that each student is thoroughly comprehending the course material so I spend time (sometimes too much) analyzing assignments and providing feedback. I have found that there are some great programs out there that help with cutting time when grading. One program is Grade Assist. It allows you to create suggestion boxes to add to the corrections based on the given assignment. Rather than having to type out the same correction multiple times, the comment is saved to just click and add immediately.

that sounds like a great option, how and where can we find grade assistant?

It would be great to have a scantron in our school as most testing is Multiple choice due to all test are multiple choice on their liciensing exam. It would definantely help with time management.

We do have scantron for our campus, but I do not use them myself. My classroom is a lab with computers, so all the testing can be done with a text making software. My Program Director does use this method, but I have found that creating the test with the test maker works best (create only). All I do is scramble the questions, print out the test and 1 answer key. I correct the tests, enter the grades and hand them back to the students the same day. They use the graded tests as a study guide for their finals.

Our LVN, RN and MA departments use Scantron for their testing. It streamlines the correction process and saves the Instructor time. Contact Scantron at 800 722 6876 for more information and a price quote.

Tammy, I am glad to hear you have an organized and broadly used approach for exam evaluation. Scantrons are truly a tremendous time saver and there are many great providers.
