Syllabus

I always go over the syllabus the first class period to let the students know the course requirement, rules and grading scale. It also gives the student a chance to ask questions about the course. Students can also refer back to the syllabus when they have concerns.

Hi Wanda,
I love the syllabus because a lot of questions students have can be found in the course syllabus if they use it.

I let the students read over their own syllabi, however I create a course outline which breaks down what is due when, and also reiterates the grading scale and other important information found in the syllabus. I also keep a copy of the course outline accessible, so if a student happens to lose their copy I can easily reprint one for them. I did have one lose their copy recently and I went to print one out for him and he was kind of rude and told me to just read it off to him. I just smiled, printed it out and handed it to him.

Hi Jason,
Students need to be more responsible and keep up with important documents, like their course syllabus.
