Using Center Stage Students to your Advantage...
I like to use the students that tend to be over zealous in class and use them to my advantage, by helping them lead smaller groups, and working with other students that may not be getting the material. By keeping watch over these students, gets the center stage students feeling like they are helping out, and also gets the students they are helping, much needed attention and gets the groups discussing more.
I love to see the students working in groups and learning from each other. Even those who understand learn from teaching each other and everyone has the opportunity to contribute. It keeps the class alive.
I've used Center Stage Students to my advantage too. I actually like some of them. They are very engaging in class discussions despite them going off on topic sometimes. I bring them back in and guide their discussions to help other students.
