Reassessing Student Work

I noticed that one of the strategies mentioned for managing angry students was agreeing to reassess their work (if that is what they are angry about). In the past, this has been a last resort for me as I found it both rewards anger and is unfair to the other students in the class.

I am hoping someone can further explain how this an effective strategy and what positive implementation of it looks like.

I agree, however it depends on the student that is angry. Students should have a system in place to deal with complaints. If this is typically an A student and they bombed the exam and the entire class bombed the exam I DO think the content of the exam and grading criteria need reassessed. I find that MOST times you have an angry student is because of some sort of miscommunication. Students might not LIKE you, but if you have clear expectations and enforce them...they understand and they CHOOSE to not abide by them.
