disruptive behavior

this has to be one of the most difficult situations for a teacher to get under control. the student that keeps testing you to see how far and how much he/she can get away with, i have learned so much as to how to handle this in the corect and most effective manor.

I agree the way they taught us to handle a disruptive student was really simple and to the point ask the student to leave if he does not them have someone remove him while the rest of the class takes a short break.
Simple

This was something I learned too. I had a student who wouldn't leave after being asked. I left the room to get the dept. chair who came to the door and did nothing.
So really the student won, had a tantrum, didn't leave the room and wasn't made to leave the room by the dept. Chair. I look back and realize she didn't know what to do either. The boy was 300+ lbs and she was 100 lbs so she couldn't do much to remove him.
I know now to call for a recess for the whole class while this sort of this is settled by the director. This would really work, if the all the students leave the room.
