An instructor can be proactive by encouraging the students to listen prior to presenting this important topic. Take this opportunity to test there ability to prepare how they will receive this information. Suggest to your students as well as encourage them to take notes. Present the topic by emphasizing the importance of knowing the different types of instruments; especially in the clinical setting. Start the conversation with a dialogue regarding life versus death experiences that could be a result of someone utilizing the wrong instrument(s) and/or lack of the right instrument.
