Classroom Participation
The information on the long and short term memory will be valuable in engaging the class more effectively.
Todd, I'm glad this was useful information to you.

I have found that when I engage every student in my class into the topic of discussion, they do in fact improve their ability to remember facts surrounding their participation easier, rather than memorization of facts later that day or the next.
I, too, have found that involving all the students randomly throughout the class time with hands on activities and rotate through stations of terminology card review that their retention improves.
Pilar, that has to do with the students seeing the relevance of the content in a personal way.

Classroom participation activities that are fun are very successful with memory. With medical terminology, grouping students and playing word games has proven very successful in having the students remember medical terms.
Rudy, I like grouping and regrouping students when using collaborative learning.

Focused application (examples) of the new skill make is "stick". I had a student say..."I need one of your examples" Real live descriptors gives a real application to the point of the lecture
Marianne, you have created a good environment of give and take with your learners since it is safe for them to ask you for an anchoring example.

Students do extremely well with group projects for Medical Terminology. :))
Lovie, isn't it nice to see students responding positively! Those are days we enjoy teaching the most.
