Group activities
Group activities can be a very good ice breaker for the entire class....it allows them to make mistakes but everyone will of the same mind set...its all in having fun to learn and everyone is learning.
MICHELLE, yes I agree that making mistakes can facilitate learning. You want to create a safe environment so people feel okay about themselves in the process.

group activities is a great ice breaker, I try to play games as often as my schedule permits. I am anxious to try some of these games. ( baseball, football etc.) I do get more involvement when I do group activities.
Group activities are not only a great ice breaker for the entire class but when the game is finished the students are very impressed with what they do know. I had a few students realize some of their weaknesses in recalling Anatomy names. Of their own accord they have gone back over chapters and studied. Now they are confident in their knowledge. This is such a fantastic tool!!!!!
Robin, thank you for stressing an important role of the teacher: one who makes students leave class impressed with themselves, not intimidated by the teacher.
