I like the idea of giving students multiple way to communicate.  Both with a forum and a chat as well.  Email can be used for more one on one.  I will also set up a one on one zoom sessions as well if the students want to communicate on a one-on one or small group session.

An effective teacher must possess and implement tradtional on site classroom management and for the E-learning environment as well. Whether traditional classroom or E-learn, there will be conflicts. Module provides "how to" when issues, behavior problems, attrition arise. Good note of advise from this module is to document all email and private chat with students.

Keeping records of everything and identifying problems early on seems to be the key in managing students in an online environment.  Organization is key.

This course section provided challenges that can arise in conducting an online course, and potential conflicts that may occur.  This provided techniques to utilize to resolve the conflict and help in overcoming challenges to help our students succeed in the online course module.  In developing skills to resolve potential conflicts will help in better supporting the students in the online course module.

This section was extremely helpful to assist me with identifying that types of students I am dealing with just based on the reasons they provide for not being able to complete their work. I learned that their are many types of learners and they can tend to hide even greater with distance learning. We have to give each student a different level of attention and be firm with the not so adequate behaviors.

Providing multi ways for students to communicate with the instructor is important. Keep in mind a student's privacy by keeping personal emails private or ask for permission to share.

Instructors must stay proactive in their students activities in-order to identify early if their is a conflict of time, technical issue, overwork or alienation. All student have learning personalities, and some will become distractions to the class if not handled early.

The challanges that face some online students are some of the same challanges that would face a ground student, with the exception of technical chanllanges.

Don't count on students coming to you with the problems, you need to look for them.   A good organizational system, simple but enforceable, can make a big difference in workload for the teacher throughout the course.   Be as clear as you can be about course requirements, throughout the time of the course.

There was a lot covered in this section. Setting up a good filing system to find the infomation you want when you want it is key. Great information on supporting students, counseling them, prodding them; there is much to being an online instructor. I had not known of the disruptors and intimidators. There is much to keep up with!

I feel a little bit overwhelmed with the idea of delivering the content, managing all the discussions, providing feedback, and then somehow translating this all to the gradebook accurately and in a timely manner. At this time I don't feel competent enough in my CMS to even kow where to begin with this.

Students need to be able to work and learn- not be bogged down by technical issues and overwhelmed  by work load.

I learnt about teh different types of learners . Very informative as I have encountered all types. I learnt about teh importance of organizing . The various tips of how to use email as a tool . Tips to motovate the procrastinators . Awesom module.

I learned about the differt types of students in an e-learning envrironment. It is important to understand the different student types in the course so the student can be addressed in the best way possible. In addition it is importnat to understand why students may want to leave an e-learning program and be able to help the student stay foucsed so the course can be finished successfully. Building relationships with students at the start of the course may help students to not feel alientated and willing to reach out if the student is having issues within the course.

Management of emails and keeping your files clean and prioritized is best for you and the student.

We learned in this lesson about ways to communicate with students and the different ways students communicate in return. Also, we learned about was the deal with unfavorable behaviors to keep the learning environment healthy.

One of the most useful things I learned is what measures can be used to reduce attrition. Keeping students engaged and enrolled in your course is more challenging in an online learning environment so being mindful what causing attrition is very useful as an online instructor..

Communication is very important in e-learning, due to it being one of the most effective avenues of communicaiton we have to use.  One challenge is people not checking their emails to stay up to date on important information.  I also found it useful to learn about the different learning styles, as we all learn differently.

On thing I had not thought about, and I don’t think my school has thought about is an online learning policy. Having this in place would give teacher and students direction on how to deal with issues when they arise.

I think that having at least 1 session per week that is a virtual face-to-face format (such as Zoom meetings) helps students relate with one another.  It may be harder in a TRUE online course, but a hybrid course where they see each other at least part of the time on campus really lends itself to helping them come together as  agroup, even if virtually.  This could reduce attrition, in addition to identifying individuals' needs.
