Communicate on the Net as if you are F2F
I'm not so sure one needs a protocol or standards of communication excellence if one just uses common sense and courtesy. If one can virtually imagine that person being face to face, a lot of the illicit communications behavior would naturally fade away.

Common sense and courtesy. . .how wonderful it would be if everyone followed those two things.
I tell my instructors and my students this all of the time. Many say you should not write the way you speak. I completely disagree with this. In all actuality I feel you should write exactly how you speak. If this is a problem for some, then they should try to speak better.
