Phyllis,
I use Rubistar many times just to look at similar rubrics to see if I can make my criteria more clear or to see if I may have forgotten a pertinent category. It helps to see others. Thanks!
Roger, thanks for the link to that site, it is a gem. I hope he keeps it running for many years - it seems it is easier to build a site than to maintain a site over the long term.
Albert,
It's great to see you all learning from each other and sharing ideas, resources and more.
Thanks again.
Try the Google suggestion-there is a wealth of information out there. Does anyone find a generated rubric of which you nor any students have had a part in less effective?
Carla,
I think it is difficult to find a rubric that exactly meets your needs as the criteria typically needs to be tweaked to match our particular assignment/project. Thanks!
At my college, we have rubric examples in the faculty resource center. We can modify them to meet the needs of our own courses. Module 3 listed two online resources http://rubistar.4teachers.org/ which is a free tool to help teachers create quality rubrics. Another one is called http://www.rcampus.com/index.cfm/ it is a comprehensive Education Management System and a collaborative learning environment. I have not used these suggested tools. I will review them after this course. Thanks, Tom
Tom,
I am thrilled that you can modify them to meet your needs. I hope you find these resources helpful. Try them out and let us know how they work for you. Thanks!
I tipically create my own but I do go to the internet for examples.

Online has a lot of helpful tips that I can use when creating my rubric.

LaShanta ,
I too create my own, but look at other examples to see if I can improve upon my criteria or to see if I'm forgetting another category. Thanks!
Searching online sounds like a good way to keep up to date, fine tune your own rubric, and consider alternative ways of using your rubric.
Faith ,
Can you elaborate about how to consider alternative ways of using your rubric? This caught my attention and I'd like to see what else you have to share. Thanks!
Aaron,
Thanks for the link/resource. It's good to see some rubrics others use for examples, but make sure you tweak them to meet your specific needs and the needs of your students - aligned with the learning objectives. Thanks!
Hello,
One suggestion was to Google the topic and many resources would come up and another was to go to Rcampus Rubric Gallery.
Catherine,
Thanks for the resource and reminding us we can use the Internet to help us explore the topic. Thanks so much!
I think that every assignment is particular, and has to be measured with a specific rubric that is specifically created for the assignment in question. I would not use something general as a copy and paste option. Instead, I would use it as a foundation on which to build my categories. I would custom craft it for the assignment I am working on. What are some of the worst rubrics that you have seen?
Sabahudin,
Right. The criteria are essential. Without appropriate categories and criteria, the rubric will not be as beneficial to the students or instructor. Thanks!
I have relied heavily on what I find online. Even if the rubric isn't perfectly customized, it provides a good place to start and then I can make the necessary changes.
Melinda ,
You are right. We can find a lot of information online and then tweak it to our needs. It's important we adjust it to meet the learning outcomes. Thanks!
There are specific websites such as Rubistar and Rcampus rubric gallery. Google may be able to provide some sites as well.
