Lead by example
It i sso easy for us to tell our students to do the right thing, forgetting they whole time they are learning from us.
As a former SGT in the Army, I can tell you that the best leaders are the ones who lead by example. Those are the people who won't ask you to do anything they themselves would not do.
As an instructor, the building policy (in the elementary) is there is no candy/gum/soda in the class. So, I tell my students, if I'm not eating/drinking it, neither are you. I make sure that I never eat candy/gum or drink soda in the class. I allow water, gatorade and juice in the class and that's the only thing my students see me drink. Fair is fair.
Some students are in this arena for the first time and they need to have a formal example of behavior to model.
as an instructor I will tell my students every one has to abide by the building policy.
The best boss I ever had would roll up his sleeves and do the work right beside his employees. The poorest boss I ever had would shout out orders from his office. I vowed that I would never be the latter of the examples. Leading by example is of utmost importance if you want to be a respected leader.
Actions speak loader than words!
Consistency in following and abiding all rules is the best teacher.
Role modeling is so important.
