Just Say No Is Sometimes the Right Answer

Often times we are on our jobs and we are overwealmed with tasks and projects. The right thing to do is to know when to say no. There are only 24 hours in a day and everything can't get completed and not everything can't be priority #1. Learning how to respectfully say no to those tasks that can overwealm you is often times the key to keeing your sanity. Any thoughts on this subject?

Very true

I have a very hard time saying no to just about anything. I hate the thought of letting any one down but over the years I too have found that the word "no" can be a very powerful stress reliever. Just because we have to say no at some points, people will understand if our time is limited and we are unable to do certain things or activities.

you can only do what you can,,, sometimes you must refuse invitations or assignments

I agree. If there are many priorty 1 tasks then there needs to be more than one team memember to to help.

I would ask questions and give suggestions while saying no. This way they know that I am interested but uncapable of meeting the task they are looking for but someone else might be able too.

The workplace seems at times to add more responsibilities on workers daily, With the economy suffering, employer tend to take advantage of workers' need for employment and overload the workers they currently have. Although on one hand you can understand their perspective, the consequence is burnout.

Its ok to say "No" or "I'm not available" to people and things that demand more of you than you can afford to give. It is not always easy to tell others "No", but it is a necessary skill we all must use from time to time to keep our own sanity. Just because you can't do something today for someone, it doesn't mean you can't help someone with something else later when you are available.
