Goal setting when the leadership is not establishing clear goals
How do you set goals for yourself at work, when the leadership does not give you clear goals to accomplish? I feel like I sort of know what our companies goal, as a whole is about. However, we are owned by a large company and I would like to know what our local goals are for our school. This would help me to set my goals.
Sharon,
this is definitely difficult. I would encourage you to ask your leadership for this information & frame it so they know you are looking to set goals.

Good grief, but this can be a nightmare situation. Especially if, in addition to the leadership not giving clear goals, they're also erratic and contradictory. There really may not be a good answer, but I've found it helpful to start small and seek out the aid of those folks who genuinely keep the operation running, and then trying to expand into the network of lower management and then moving up. It almost means working outside teh established leadership structure, which has its own problems.
Johnny,
this is great advice & this is why it pays to network & know who you can go to in these situations.
