Five Year Plans
Does anyone have a good example of a five year plan their department or institution has implemented.
We are going into year four of our restructured department. We have some great talent and I am excited to see what we can come up.
With the industry changing so rapidly it's almost impossible to know in what direction you will be moving 5 years from now. You may have a general idea, not there is no guarantee that what you plan will actually work out within the time frame you have created. For example, our school wanted to open a BSN program. It took us over 7 years to actually open one, while we thought we could get it done much faster. The Board of Registered Nursing kept closing and opening and closing and opening again, which postponed everything. In any case, it's sometimes impossible to predict how regulations might change and affect your plans.
We do have a plan to make our MRI program go national, and we are working on implementing our online MRI program locally as a pilot for now, but again, there is no way to predict how quickly we could go national.
