Mobile and Social Networks for Admissions Represetnatives
With today's youth using more and more of the internet and social medias for researching schools versus just picking up the phone or setting up appointments. How are you taking advantage of the possibilities of reaching out to potential students through online media?
Now and days you can find online texting. try it its fun, and they answer back quickly
rosaura,
Many schools use social media as a way to connect with students online. We use the social media sites as an easy way to get a hold of students.

Yesenia,
I have found that many students will respond to a text rather than to a phone call.

We have found referrals come quicker with social media like Facebook. I'm curious to see what other forms of social media others have found useful.
Our school uses social media and so far it seems to be working well. We use lead tracking here and a lot of my potential students are learning about this school through youtube and facebook and online tv ads.
I've found most of my students will respond to a text message quicker than they will reply to a phone call. We frequently refer them to our Facebook page to keep them involved in on-campus activities.
howard,
So many factors go into the leads and the results they bring for each school. It may depend on the area, the program offerings, ther demographics of the prospective student. Defining your target market is crucial.

Sadie,
Social media will have a defining role in the future of education. We are just beginning to learn about the technological impact.

Deidre,
It does seem to be the way of many. They can respond without actually having to speak to you. But, nothing beats good, old-fashioned communication.

I agree many student only respond to text messaging. especially the students who have limited minutes on their phone
richard,
Texting has its advantages in our busy lives. Even though we have our phones available to call, often it is the best way to keep the communication going.

One way I have use Social Media is congraduating students on their enrollment to the institution. For example, a simple tweet saying "Congrats to John Doe, class of 2016 ABC University. We look forward to a great year ahead." We have seen the students retweet the message. Its also been helpful that potential students will even send direct messages through twitter to ask questions rather than emailing. The key is to have a professional twitter account and seperate from personal. Its a "Tweet" idea!
Curtis,
Sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing the idea. We have had so few posts on what schools are doing with Twitter, this is great.

Must of our students work full time and have families to take care. Comunicating with through social networks and Mobile, makes it accesible and keeps the comunication open.
Janet,
The social media piece is definitely a quick way to communicate. We have become very mobile with the technology today and communicate is immediate if we choose to accept it.
Patty Aronoff
At times, it seems that the social network has made speaking on the phone or in person an awkward experience, as everyone prefers to communicate through other channels.
It has been helpful to communicate with individuals who are very busy though.
Joel,
It is sometimes easier to speak through social media or email. It removes the human connection and makes establishing a relationship more difficult.
