Currently, I am just beginning my role as Student Services Coordinator for our private graduate university. However, we do have specific criteria when it comes to the admissions process.

IE:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution: With prereq. courses.
• An official GRE score report sent directly from ETS. The minimum recommended score is a 294 (new version) or 1000 (old version) combined between the verbal and quantitative sections.
- The test must have been taken within the last five (5) years.
• Four (4) references
• A minimum of 80 observation experience hours
Two Essays:
Statement of Purpose
Resume: Current Resume

And that is just to begin the application process.
Once applied, the student obtains at orientation a student handbook, University Catalog, Schedule of classes, Financial Aid Information (Given before orientation), etc.

We have not yet incorporated the resource book yet in our institution and I don't know why! What a great idea...that works! Thank you.

Yes, Kelly, for sure the resource notebook is the best tool. There is way to much information to gather and keep up to date and is a "go to" information that benefits all involved in the process. Every time I pick it up there is something new to learn.

Since the catalog along with the enrollment agreement constitute the contract between the student and the school it is very important that the language in one is the same as the other. Another very critical point is the language should be clear and easily understood to help the potential student make an informed choice.

Enrollment agreement, catalog, fair consumer practices, and programs. One of the foundational elements is the "fair consumer practices". It is the center of doing right to your potential customer to make sure you present fairly, clearly, honestly, and provide them the best understanding as a consumer to make an informed choice about whether to select one of your programs.

I am new to admissions and this is a great idea. I am a huge fan of binder and have info at my finger tips to look up if I have any questions. I think that the info in this binder will be a huge help for me in my new job and I love that this training laid out what should be on it. I have already printed out this part of the training and started my binder!

I placed all the required documents.
I didn't know about how and or where they market, promote the school and how offen

Linda,

In consumer protection, the enrollment agreement should contain all fees associated with the education the student is accepting..

Patty Aronoff

Stephanie,

Marketing and advertising are an important part of the enrollment process. It is the first touch point with the student that brings them into your institution and provides interest for the program which they will study.

Patty Aronoff

milena,
Having the ability to seek financial aid maybe the only way that the student can afford college.

Patty Aronoff

michael,

Accreditation is the gateway to title IV financial aid. The accrediting body must be recognized by US DOE and the institution must be licensed by the state.

Patty Aronoff

Ana ,

CIE is your regulatory body. They regulate all institutions that operate in the state of Florida under nonpublic postsecondary schools.

Patty Aronoff

Kristi,

This is the way that the students are introduced to your institution. Admissions staff needs to understand what brings the student to your doorstep.

Patty Aronoff

Maria,

The enrollment agreement along with the catalog constitute the contact between the student and the school.

Patty Aronoff

geniece,
Many people are confused about financial aid. For some, they think it's all grant money and they don't have to pay any of it back. Understanding the loans and the repayment is very important for default management.

Patty Aronoff

Jennifer,

You have an exhaustive admissions criteria. I am sure this makes a difference in the retention of students.

Patty Aronoff

William,
Absolutely! This is one part of the program specialist duties at CIE that they ensure that all information is the same from document to document.

Patty Aronoff

William,

It is fair consumer practices that drives the regulations in Florida. We all want to have a fair playing field and ensure that our customers are treated fairly.

Patty Aronoff

Linda,

What a great idea! Additional information to reinforce the learning opportunity is awesome!

Patty Aronoff

David,

It really is! Having a resource material in one place gives you the opportunity to research as necessary. It's always an opportunity to learn as well.
