Some of the terms and definitions commonly used at my institution are accredidation, enrollment agreement, program and scholarship. Accreditation is a process that assures the educational community and the general public that an institution or a program has clearly defined and appropriate objectives and maintains conditions under which their achievement can reasonably be expected. The enrollment agreement is a contract between a student and an institution that provides certain terms and conditions. It should include tuition or course fees for the specified period of enrollment, start and ends dates or length of course, nature of the course, drop dates and refunds, extra costs for books and supplies, grading procedures, contingency plans in case the school should close, and limitations of liability. A program is a series of courses, which have been sequentially combined, that has a terminal objective and leads to a certificate of completion, diploma, or degree. Scholarships are a grant or payment made to support a student's education, awarded on the basis of academic or other achievement.
Shamonda,
Even though you are not in admissions, every employee should understand the rules and regulations. It is also very important to know what each department does in assisting the student through their experience at your school.

Michelle,
Excellent! Having the materials in one place saves us time and effort trying to search down what we are looking for.
Patty Aronoff
Nicholous,
That is a great addition! The student can see what the courses entail and the requirements of learning.

Application procedures is a solid way to ensure compliance and adherence to the policies of the school and CIE. Every applicant should go through the same procedures.
Patty Aronoff
Suzanne,
A questionnaire provides an admissions representative with information to determine if your school and a particular program is the right fit for both parties.

Jakelin,
Accreditation means that your institution has recognition of an accrediting body that meets or exceeds the standards of the Florida Commission for Independent Education.

I am not actually in Admissions but this information is good to know. It provides we with the knowledge to better understand the Admissions dynamic and makes for a better team enviorment.
At our institution we have compiled all of the latest information and marketing materials in one place.
diane,
The enrollment agreement along with the catalog constitute the contract between the student and the school.
Patty Aronoff
Cynthia,
Absolutely! There should be complete disclosure and transparency. Confirm that your student is well versed in the information presented.

At our institution pretty much all of what is on the Terms and Definitions list come up.
Accreditation, Enrollment, our Enrollment Agreement, and the Florida Administrative Code all come up in our discussions and meetings frequently. I was interested in the term Agent, and how it differentiated from the basic admissions representative. We only do on-campus admission meetings at my institution.

Hello All,
Aside from the current institution catalogue, the enrollment agreement, the statutes and rules, and the terms and definitions, I too have added our current syllabi. We have also created a visual spread sheet of physical resources to help prospective students visualize those resources, and clearly understand what they are.
