It is very important that I reach out to Directors/Managers from other departments as well as Faculty our students.
I consult with my director first then with Education. Lately I have made a point to seat in the different classes for at least half an hour. Product knowledge is extremely important in Admissions
We require that our staff bring their training manuals to staff meetings. As changes in policies and procedures occur, we distribute new pages for their manuals already 3-hole punched.

When you are the only Admission Rep, it is that much more important to sit in on classes. Even just for a few minutes at a time. You need to understand the teacher style, topics and overall environemnt. As the Admissions Rep you need to make sure you are selling the great product you think you are... If you see concerns, relay them to the Director immediately.

We have staff meetings every week. Our Dean meets with the admissions staff. The Assistant Director will commit as well. Afterwards, we go around to see if any of the admissions staff have any comments, questions, or concerns that we need to bring up. This is very helpful to be alert about new changesa at our school or changes to programs, etc...

Sitting in on classes is not only great fun, but you really do learn about the classroom experience.
Some of the best information I have gotten is from students. They give you a perspective that the professors don't always have. Sitting in on classes is wonderful for information gathering as well. I think I've gotten some great information by sitting in on the first day of classes when the professors discuss the syllabus and expectations of the class. Also talk to graduates if you get the chance to see where they are going with their education and suggestions from them on how to do your job better. I use alum to email my prospective students and answer their questions whenever possible.

I find the “Reference Notebook Checklist†provided in the course as a perfect guide. I plan to add a monthly notice in Microsoft Outlook to remind me its time to update any changes that have taken place.
I would think that the Dean would have this information as well as HQ to pass down to all locations.
I have made myself a personal committment to go through each month and update my information and also familiarize myself with any changes. Sometimes you get so busy that you assume that everything stays the same. But I want to be proactive and be sure to stay within the communication loop of my Director and various departments of our Institution.

I agree! As a recruiter (part of the marketing department, NOT admissions department) I find that I am often having to remind them to include me in policy changes, program changes, etc.
