Regulatory Requirements
How do Commission for Independent Education requirements affect how you perform your job as an admissions representative or agent?
Brian,
Yes, all states do differ. Primarily they have the same interests in mind however it's all in the details. If you operate in different states you do need to know each states requirements.
Patty Aronoff
Rocio,
It does! You know with confidence that all schools have to abide by the same rules and regulations and that provides a fair playing field for the students of Florida. It also provides you with ground from which to operate in compliance.
Patty Aronoff
I totally agree with Frank. As he mentioned, "These requirements are the primary directives for institutions under the cognizance of the commission." Without them, schools across the nations would no have no compliance requirements to help us all preform our roles.
As he also mentioned, these requirements also hold us all to ethical and legal and legal standards. This ensures that students are receiving the same treatment and professionalism if they they transfer from school to school.
The Commission for Independent Educations requirements affects how I do my job in many ways. First, it has checks and balances in place to protect both the institution and consumers. It provides the institution with a road map of acceptable, required and expected practices. Second it effects how advisors and agents do their jobs by putting strict guidelines on how to represent your university by communicating expected exchanges of information and disclosure for both the institution and consumer. Personally, I think this a good because it keeps our industry meeting standards that are consistent and demonstrating full disclosure.
They affect how we do our jobs by being compliant with not only Florida's requirements, but other states as well. We find that each state has a different set of requirements, so being knowledgeable in each of these state requirements is an absolute necessity. The last thing as agents we want to do is misrepresent our school to the prospective student. It also helps us to be confident that we are doing the right thing and advising the student the correct way.
Ronald,
Honesty should come naturally. Unfortunately, it does not present itself that way. The rules protect the student in the school.

Nida,
We always need to look at it from the students perspective. What would we want to hear across the table. We want the honest truth.
Patty Aronoff
Olga,
We must comply because it is the law. But also because it's the only way to conduct business in an ethical manner.
Patty Aronoff
Erica,
They are your guiding force. They are there to protect the students of the state of Florida and in return it also protects you as a representative of the school.
Patty Aronoff
Gabriel,
It's our protection as we operate in the school. Consumer protection offers guidance for the students and the school it's a win-win.
Patty Aronoff
Michelle,
The requirements are there to protect the students and the school. When we comply it's a win-win for everyone.
Patty Aronoff
They are a great guideline to make sure we our doing our job correctly, ethically and honestly.
I think having the requirements on our minds is a constant reminder of why we're meeting with students; it's for their (the student's) success. By doing our jobs within the important parameters of the Commission for Independent Education we can help to assure a positive student experience and outcome.
There are various rules and regulations to follow from CIE and they must be followed to avoid any errors and keep everything organized and maintained to their standards. CIE is just one of the guidelines to follow.
