Our structure is very clear. We have multiple layers of management, but everyone knows the exact chain of command to follow.
No surprises, however, we have a small college. As the college grows, we will be expanding but hesitant to add layers of management.
A lot of organization behavior research indicates that adding titles leads to bureaucracy, a term coined by the famous scholar Dr. Max Weber (who referred to it as an "Iron Cage").
The key for growth, we feel, is to expand the roles of individuals while keeping the organization flat. Research in this area also suggests job satisfaction, innovation, and ultimately student satisfaction is linked to having a flat (rather than horizontal) organizational structure.

After reviewing the organizational chart i like how everthing is in order from authority, it is very important that people understand each others role at the work place and they understand each persons level of responsibilty and authority
Our organizational chart is great. We have everyone listed, what their department is and what their job description is. There were really no surprises. It is very helpful especially for new employees and our receptionist so she knows where to point people in the correct direction

We have a very clear organizational chart. There were no surprises there. I think it's important that these roles are separate and employees know exactly who to report to and to seek help from.
I work in a small institution which truly allows us all to take part in the success of our students. I'm lucky to work with a group of people who never think of themselves as "above" a certain tasks when it comes to the students.

Ihe organizational structure for our school is very basic but it covers all areas of faculty and student relations. We are united in our quest for student success and we ensure that by following through on all paperwork and duties. I am now aware of a few things that were being done that i had not fully understood the reasoning involved, but after doing this module i am now understanding the reasons behind everything that is done and why the structure works. There is really only one goal in education and that is to provide the students with the the tools and knowledge needed to be able to advance themselves in this world and the organizational structure in any organization is what makes that a possibility.
