Generation
Which generation do you thnk is more knowledgeable today's are traditional ?
Ricardo,
Interesting question. I guess I believe that each generation brings knowledge and wisdom to the table for everyone to learn from. In your experiences working with individuals from various generations, what have you found?
Shannon Gormley
I too believe that we can all learn from the different generations. However, I have found lately that the gnereations X cares less of the theory and rationales but rather jump to the tactile part of learning. Although yet knowledgeable but arent as "critical thinkers".
Yolanda, interesting observation. What do you think causes the lack of critical thinking skills?
Dr. Jean Norris
I agree with the forum group with all generations are knowledgeable. Each group brings their experience, skills and knowledge to the table. Our school works with all generations. How do we guide the students from all generations to be successful in a academic setting?
Kelley,
That's really a great question. With many schools having students from multiple generations the characteristics and communication styles of each need to be considered. It isn't an accident that online learning continues to be popular as it appeals to multiple generational styles, but the classroom environment needs to be considered. Let's open this one up to the forum - please share some of the ways your school helps people from all generations be successful. Thank you for your post Kelley.

The importance of this knowledge for the protection of biodiversity and the achievement of development is slowly being recognized internationally
That's very interesting Migdalia, how do you think the different characteristics of each generation impacts this?
Dr. Jean Norris
Traditionalists had to be knowledgeable in order to survive and maintain. They weren't called the great generation for nothing.
Todays youth has more knowledge than millions of people combined from, say ancient Rome. But, what do they do with it? They can make a phone app that makes candy explode when they touch each other but, play with their phones and talk while at the movies, careless of those around them! They may have more knowledge of the world through Google but, have lost their souls. Nothing is revered anymore that doesn't come with a touch screen.
Younger people are easier to teach technology to. They already have a strong background in technology and embrace it.
It is easy to say or believe that Today's generation may be more knowledgeable simply because of their access to the different modes of communications; however, I'm not that sure they know how to harness it. Traditionalist, because of their era had the ability to understand how they had obtained their knowledge, they were more God centered.

I totally agree. Most of the kids to day don't understand the "historical" part of life. and everything is now computer this , tablet that, but there are ways from the traditionalist that can be used in today's way of thinking.
I agree with many in this forum that each generation adds to our knowledge base in ways the previous generation were unable to do. I think the point we often miss is that each generation go through a Maturation process. As a Gen X'er I know that I didn't value the knowledge of Baby Boomers at much when I was younger than I do now. Many of us would like to criticize the generation before or after us instead of striving to integrate their learnings into new and different situations we face today.
