Reframing
The most interesting part of module 4 was learning about reframing content and context. Learning how to re-invent the meaning of a situation will become very valuable in the future. I will be able to turn bad situations into good ones with my students. I will be able to give students positives out of the negatives. These are very important things to remember in communication!
Cindy,
Yes, they are! However, do you think reframing a question to empower your students to solve their problems has more impact?
Dr. Jean Norris
Cindy, I think your take-aways are positive and certainly will prove to help us strengthen our relationships with the students.
Dr. Norris, I see your point about using the reframing to attempt to enable our students to solve their problems. Oftentimes students get disheartening and frustrated with how long it takes to gain their degree. One of my first "reframe" attempts is to ask them to recall what motivated them to come; how the degree will help them to change the situation; and, therefore, try to guide them into recalling how important it is to stay on course. So, reframing can help to problem-solve.
Sandra,
Excellent, Sandra! Thank you for sharing!
