Building Relationships Through Charilty Events

We started getting involved with local charity events in our area. Donating our graduates and staff's services for the events. It gets us great publicity and we also get to help our community.

Hi Carleen

Great idea to get involved in local charity events. There is always something going on in most communities. You might attend all of the events the first year. See which ones you enjoy and which give you the best publicity. Then solidify your relationships with each group to ensure participation. In addition to the publicity and exposure your school gains, the organization can learn about your school as a training resource. Do you have any recommendations about the best groups to align with?

Thanks Susan! I definetley recommend all the xharity events that raise money and awareness for diseases and the sick. Most of these events are rewarding on more levels than one. They are also alot larger and have been around longer; Therefore, they reach more people and they tend to be alot more organized. Will definetley use your advice.

Hello Alberto

Great that you are getting involved in local charity events. Be sure your students wear school t-shirts and badges to identify who they are and the school they are attending. Take photos and let the local news know. A picture in the paper is a great marketing tool. Photos can be framed and placed around your school and used for brochures and your website.
Lots of ways to get publicity mileage from involvement in charity events. And it helps others too.

I recently was in a MDA lock up and raised $300 dollars for charity it was great!

Hi Patrice

That's a great start. You might want to see what other charity events are in your community so you can schedule your time and that of your students. And then be sure to take photos. There are many uses for photos. These include framing and hanging them around the school, using as mailings, and sending to newspapers. The trick is to get a lot of mileage out of each event.

Susan

We are planning to run a blood drive for a local hospital. This should give us an opportunity to talk to more people, pass out flyers, gain positive publicity and put out a press release / news article before and after. The chances of the press release being picked up by newspapers / websites is great because of the nature of the event. This will also generate links to our website and more traffic.

HI Ryan
Looks like you know how to maximize a publicity opportunity. Reminder to frame photos and put them up around the school. Also use them for follow up mailings to prospects. And send to alumni to keep reminding them about your school for referrals and also to enroll in your advanced programs and continuing ed. Lots of possibilities.

We run blood drives every month. The "Vampire Truck" as we call it, parks in front of our school and it brings lots of attention.
Last time they did not have a truck available and asked us for space inside the school where they could conduct the drive. This was a fantastic way to increase traffic! We had the chance to talk with the people, explain about the school, pass flyers, even give them some short basic classes so they could taste what everything was about. We took pictures, sent a press release, gave away POP material. And the best part was, that we got an important increase in leads while helping collect endless bags of blood for our troops. We will deffinitely do it again.

HI Mary
What a great event. I bet the first time you ran it there was a lot of planning time required. And every repeat gets easier and easier. That's the goal. Create successful publicity opportunities and get them to run themselves.
You have provided the forumla for a successful blood drive for any school.
Thanks
Susan

I think nothing could be better than working to build a good publicity (for our own company) while helping our community. I think that for us to grow, we have to help the community to grow as well!

HI Fiorella
Right you are. A school is part of the community. When truly functioning as a part of the community, the community will look to the school to train its workforce. That's why involvement in organizations and events is important. Depending on the type of programs there may be some specific charities that your school can support that relate to your programs. Great for the community and for school publicity. Best wishes, Susan
