Iyad,
I'm glad you found the information useful. You can probably build on that new store of knowledge by doing some investigation of the resources (for you and for your students) available at your school.

It is very interesting to learn this information. I know I am not required to learn it, but I figured that I would like to have the knowledge of what is required and what is out there that would/could be useful to me. The information so far has been very informative. I can't wait to read more.
Tamela,
As an instructor, it's always nice to hear that there is someone who is willing to learn just for the sake of learning, and that you were able to provide that info! Please don't hesitate to ask questions as you go along.
Dr. Jane Jarrow
This was eye opening. I had not thought of several of the disabilities as disabilities before this.
Amanda ,
I am glad you found it useful. Just keep in mind that the disability LABEL is less important than the impact on the person who is experiencing limitations as a result of the disability.
Dr. Jane Jarrow
I found this course useful as well. I also believe we need to make sure that students are also aware that there are services available for students who need accommodations.
Ebony,
I agree! Recent Office of Civil Rights case findings have provided guidance to college campuses about notification of campus services-specifically disability services. All colleges and universities have been strongly advised to provide written communication to all students accepted for admission on how to acquire accommodations related to a disability.

I have had several students with special needs and have never had any problems in class. Not putting them on "front street" goes a lng way in making them feel as if they are the same as the rest of the class. attitude and style of the instructor can greatly make it a pleasant experience for all.
I really enjoyed the information as well. Not only was it an eye opener for me as an admission rep, but it was a great life reminder. You don't often think about individuals with disabilities, especially if they are unseen. This course has brought the subject to the for-front of my mind as it relates to my job role and life.
Tawnyn,
Maintaining a student's confidentiality is important for faculty and staff alike.

Brian,
I'm so glad that you found this course helpful and informational. It's so important for our Admissions staff to have a general understanding of both obvious as well as "invisible" disabilities. It is critical to get the students the information that they need to connect with the appropriate person on campus to get the assistance they may need with acquiring accommodations.
