Credit

Are there any good resources you can recommend online that walk studnets through correcting their credit issues?

Champion College Solutions is currently developing the Champion Career Path Network, which will give students access to partnership resources such as credit counseling. In the meantime, students can visit AnnualCreditReport.com to access their credit reports and ensure all information is correct. The websites for the three major consumer credit reporting agencies will offer instructions on disputing erroneous credit information.

I think there is a wealth of information available but the student has to want to correct their situation. www.mapingyourfuture.org, edfund, or the direct lending site have some great budgeting resources. It's not easy to rebuild credit and it won't happen over night. If you target your in school students to start thinking about the importance of credit, it is sure to make default initiatives more successful down the road.

You are right, there are so many good resources out there availble to students and it is vital to make sure they are aware of them. Establishing good credit from the beginning is an important goal to remind students of and in the long run it will help the schools default rates.

This is good information- if they start trying to rebuild credit early in their curriculum they can definitely see improvements by the time they graduate.

Positive reinforcement is always good. It's not often someone is given kudos for keeping on track and if you can start that positive reinforcement in school it will stick with them.
