Assisting students who are in default or on the way...
We are new to Financial Aid at my institution and have not begun to track or keep up with graduated students who have Student Loans. Can someone provide me with websites I can use to find out if a student is on the verge of defaulting or what are some ways that schools keep up with this information? I have not explored the websites enough to understand which is good for what information yet. Is this at NSLDS or COD? Thank you!
Justine,
You can pull delinquent reports from NSLDS to find students who are delinquent on their loans. We find the best and most up to date information is from the loan servicers themselves. I would suggest you get set up with access to each of these servicers so you can get delinquent reports directly from them. If you pull a school portfolio report from NSLDS that will provide you with your students data and you can see what servicers the students have to help you prioritize who you should get set up with.
Does anyone else have suggestions for how you keep track of your delinquent students and any websites that you find particularly useful?
