If we are a school that caters to students across the nation, is it really necessary to meet with the students in person to help them with their skills?

Hi Elizabeth
Whether you offer programs on line or on site it is important to "meet" with students and provide services so they will be successful in their studies. If the students are at a distance your contact can still be personal via phone, online chats, and even snail mail. What is important is to understand how they are doing and what is needed to ensure they will stay and graduate and get employment. Best wishes, Susan

It is very important to meet with each and every student in person to help them understand the importance of their skills and how they would benefit on the job.

Well said, Berenisa. We feel that the career services staff should be meeting with students on a regular basis throughout their time taking courses. And even during enrollment and after graduation. It helps the students focus on the reasons they are in school - to get a job. Thanks, Susan

It's important to create personal bonds with the students. You don't necessarily need to meet them face to face but definitely touch bases by phone or email. The better you know each student the better you can service their needs.

Yes Rhona, the more a student feels "attached" to the school the higher the retention rate. Students who feel connected are not likely to drop out quickly as a solution to their problems. They already have resources to turn to. Personal bonds can be created many ways. We encourage meeting face to face. You can certainly stay in touch regularly via email, etc. Thanks, Susan

Our relationship with our students are alot more personal. We try to relate to them and assist in anyway possible. When the student feels comfortable in this type of school environment they are more likely to refer their family and friends to attend our school. It's a win-win situation.

You can usually tell how customer care oriented a school is by the percentage of referral business it gets
