Tell your students what you plan to teach, stay within your outline and review what you just taught to refresh their minds.

As I see a tour group coming down the hallway I make an effort to smile and say welcome to them. When I am in class and a tour group comes by and is looking through the window I will tell my class to turn to the window smile and wave to them. This always gets positive reactions from the group.
Robert, These are great ideas! What other ways can you contribute to the new student orientation or tours?

On first day I try to be in the hallway near their first class to help direct them to the right class room. During our weekend open house we set up displays of what we do in each classroom so the visitor gets a better understanding of what is going on in the lab.
