Can I find A Job?

That's the million dollar question asked by most students when attending a post secondary school for a trade! An instructor along with the placement staff can keep a student motivated throughout the semester, or school year by bringing up the subject from time to time and asking the student to take a self assesment as to their abilities as they proceed through school

We also run into this question a lot and it is definitely helpful to have those placement numbers and graduate experiences to share.

Students need to know the placement #'s & job opportunities...in cosmetology the jobs are endless...in this field i feel like students have tons of job opportunities and keeps them motivated to complete their program!

Corinna,

Students do come to career schools for future employment in their chosen field of study. Giving them the placement numbers and job opportunities gives them proper expectations.

Great question! We are always asked by the hospital staff "Are your students getting jobs? Aren't you flooding the market?" But the answer to that question is always "NO!" The main reason is the fact that we are a very transient society, and people are always moving "away" or moving "to" new places. We never have a hard time placing students which is a beautiful thing!

K.C.,

A great post. Thank you very much.

This is "the question". We work closely with the Career Services very early in the student learning process to look at what is available and hiring trends locally and the surrounding areas. Having worked in the industry I am constantly speaking with my colleagues about opportunities for employment. The step then is to have Career Services keep the lines open and available to the potential graduates. We try to be as proactive as possible for opportunities for our "future graduates"

Clifton,

Looks like your students are asked to begin thinking about their careers early on. That helps them pay attention to their studies.

Students come to school to get skills that will lead to a job. We schedule monthly for the career services staff to meet with students, post students who are employed, celebrate when students get job placement from externship. These actitives keep our students excited and motivated to remain in school.
