It im impiortnat for teachers to realize that intelligence is not just from imformation learned in books. Although this information, is also very important.
People process information in different ways. just because some doesnt understand something you've said, doesn't mean they can't. As educators we need to be flexible and work on our skills. Having multiple ways to share information is key. Lecture, demos, charts and literature are all at our disposal and we should use all of the tools we have.

Good point. Far too often, teachers do "more of the same" when students are not getting the material the first time.

How do we measure EQ in our instructors? Seems like that is something I should focus on...

There is no test for EQ. Observing your faculty interacting with students might be a way to get a reading on this.
