The power of our thoughts
As a man thinketh, so is he. Sometimes our thoughts control us. Sometimes they are incorrect. Sometimes we make bad choices based on our bad thoughts or "stinking thinking". The good news is we can change our thoughts. We can make better choices.
Having negative thoughts does not help us or anyone else. By working to have positive thinking we can make ourselves and those around us happier.
I truly believe in the power of words. A constient negative attitude can bring everyone involved down. Having someone to assist with some positive encouragement can definitely help the individual with the "stinky" thinking. We all have bad days, but positive people lighten up the room.
Thanks for theis post, April. Words are important. Students, and sometimes staff, need to know that while we enjoy freedom of expression, that freedom of expression does not free us from the consequences of our words. Thoughts?

I actually have that book. Words are powerful like a double edge sword. It is important to romove emotions and think rationally. a one size fits all does not work.
Agreed, we need to hold ourselves accountable.More importantly we lead by example.
I believe positive thoughts are key to success.
I agree withyou, Erica. We move toward that which we think about. Unfortunatly, some students come to us dominated by negative thoughts. What are some things you do to turn those students away fron negativity?

We start with orientation where we encourage them to enjoy and grasp the most they can from this experience. Reminding them to leave their problems at the door, this is their safe haven. We meet with them periodically to make sure they are learning and enjoying their experience.
Diana,
There are not many individuals who can really leave problems at the door. What are some ways you develop this skill in your students?
