I like the idea of soft skills and acknowledging that students need to learn teamwork, the value of life long learning, and knowledge of contemporary issues. I also really like the idea that self-directed learners should be "interested and involved." Our program is very self-directed but I think students feel overwhelmed at times and lose sight of being interested and involved. The learning can feel like a task. I think as instructors, it is our job to cheerlead for the students and keep them involved. While completing this module, I was thinking that we could add having students bring in a question they had from the recorded lecture and could trade the question with another student so student's are answering each other's questions. This might help them feel more involved and empowered to utilize their resources to seek out answers.
