Programs

It is extremely important for admissions staff to always be in the "know" when it comes to current program offerings, and what can be equally as important for recruitment, potential future offerings. I have worked for institutions that have been on both sides of the continuum when it came to keeping admissions informed.
I have worked for institutions where I was in the loop on program changes or offerings before approval was sought by the CIE. I have also worked for institutions where departments played everything close to the vest, and did not let admissions know what was happening programmatically until it had already happened. So a new program was being offered by a department, yet admissions did not know (seems like a funny way to recruit...?).
It is important for admissions representatives to be proactive and not wait to hear what is happening, but we should approach departments to learn what is happening.
