That I can relate to...

I have actually let my students know, on occasion, that who they see at the front of class is not necessarily who I really am. It's an attempt to get across to my adult students that, yes, you can be who you really are...    at home. Often, our true self must be modified for public consumption. And I believe teachers feel this sometimes more than anyone else (aside from actual actors)...

In my Department at the University of South Florida, we talk about how teaching is performance. You prepare, learn your lines and then perform teacher. Afterwards you go home and perform spouse, parent, child, etc.

We are many people. I think that being able to share knowledge with others is a great gift. The challenge is people who have taken up teaching because they are smart but are not good at communicating or performing.

They make for some dull courses.

I think that’s one thing I like the most, been at front of the class ( at state ) and  wear a different hat. An hat that care, teach, listen, sales, and express passion for a subject.
Even though, I do not have enough experience in the field as Instructor, I love what I am doing and I appreciate the opportunity that has been given to me to share my experience with others.

Interestingly, I've found that when I walk about the classroom and deliberatley expand the "stage," students feel more instrumental to the development of whatever "drama" is taking place; this is not a new discovery by any means, but one that works, in particular, with more complex or challenging material.  Plus, it can open up some fun opportunities for group learning if I'm a member of the audience as well as the one on stage,
